WWE Raw vs. TNA iMPACT Time/Breakdown Report
- Below is the breakdown of WWE Raw vs. TNA iMPACT from January 4, 2010. iMPACT moments are in blue, and Raw moments are in red, phrases that recap and compare the shows are in black. The events are in chronological order, so you can see which show was airing what and when they were airing it and what they were airing it against.
The first match in iMPACT was the Steel Asylum Match. The match got pretty good in the beginning. It ended in a no-contest after Homicide used a Steel Rod on his opponent. Anyways, the first match was pretty good, I was thinking, "wow, I'm impressed", then Homicide went nuts with a steel rod. That was a mistake, you don't book the first match many first-time watchers are seeing a no-contest. Then Jeff Hardy appeared, hit a Twist of Fate, did his thing and left.
Next we have a TNA Knockouts match. Alright match. Tara (aka Victoria in WWE) lost her title..
Then, a limo arrives. Out comes Ric Flair.
Next we have Bobby Lashley in the ring cutting a promo with Kristal. They talk about how Bobby likes MMA more than wrestling.
Now Scott Hall and X-Pac (Sean Waltman) are shown on iMPACT. So far this show has star power: Jeff Hardy, Ric Flair, Scott Hall, Sean Waltman, and more to come.
Now, Hulk Hogan is on, and great timing. Right when Raw starts so people who thought "I'll watch the first hour and go to Raw" will stay with iMPACT, because they are not going to switch channels in the middle of Hogan talking.
This iMPACT special is getting very good, but even with all the great guys they have coming in, it's been a while since they have shown a match.
WWE opens with Bret Hart!! I switched quick to see and now I can't leave, it's BRET HART! This is competition. Bret vs. Hogan, played great by both show, but TNA has the edge.
Switching back to TNA, we see Eric Bischoff and Hogan and X-Pac and Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Pretty cool.
Switch to WWE, Bret and HBK in the ring. No way I am switching back from this. Both promotions are pulling out all the stops. WWE knowns damn well TNA has Hogan in the their ring right now, but talk about a counter, this is 12 years in the making.
At this point we have Bret Hart and HBK doing a promo in WWE and in TNA we have Scott Hall, Sean Waltman, Hulk Hogan, and Eric Bischoff. We are now seeing Bret Hart calling out Vince McMahon, Vince doesn't come out and we go into promos hyping up the show.
So, we are 20 minutes into head-to-head combat. I think WWE is putting on the better show at this point. We saw HBK and Bret Hart bury the hatchit, that has been 12 years in the making, to me, that beats Hogan talking about anything.
Now, WWE is in commercial.
In TNA we have a Knockout's match.
WWE is back from commercial and airing a Divas match also, part of a tournament to determine the future Divas Champion.
TNA has a commercial now
WWE's Diva match is alright, Brie's wrestling is far from great, but Maryse has some great in-ring skills. Even so, it's a hooking segment because Brie and Nikkie are switching places, which makes in interesting.
