A rookie winning the Royal Rumble match? A rookie facing a veteran in a championship at “The grandest stage of them all,” WrestleMania? This rookie is none other than Alberto Del Rio. Why am I calling him a rookie? This is his first WrestleMania ever, and his match is a championship match. When he won the Royal Rumble, he decided to face Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship instead of The Miz for the WWE Championship. Edge and Alberto Del Rio currently have a feud leading up to their match at WrestleMania. The thing is that they are confronting each other before the match. This is the exact opposite of what WWE is doing for the Undertaker vs. Triple H at WrestleMania. It’s because this is Alberto Del Rio’s first WrestleMania. I think that it is good to have them confront in this case. You have a great, amazing World Champion, and an un-experienced newcomer to WrestleMania opposing at WrestleMania XXVII.

Last night on Friday Night SmackDown!, Edge and Alberto Del Rio confronted in a tag team match. The match was Edge and Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio and Brodus Clay. Edge and Christian reunited for the first time in over a decade, and Del Rio teamed up with his NXT Rookie. Edge and Christian steamed through Alberto and Brodus, and obviously won the match.

Their WrestleMania match should be fantastic. WWE is pushing Alberto Del Rio, and he’s proved to show a lot of talent. I also see his talent, and I think he makes a great heel character. His past feuds prove that he has the talent and capability to become a great wrestling superstar like Edge.
