WWE Superstars are NOT Meant for the Movie Business

Posted by Nick on March 7, 2011 at 8:28 PM

Triple H has recently returned to Raw, coinciding with the opening of his new movie, The Chaperone. Since a big name WWE Superstar stars in a movie, it must mean that the movie will sell very well and get awesome reviews, right? Wrong. What if they JUST made a surprise return? Still incorrect. Triple H is one of WWE's biggest superstars today, just like John Cena. John Cena's movie, Legendary, came out last fall. This movie bombed in the box office. I am not saying that John Cena is a bad actor, but rather, most wrestlers aren't meant to be in the acting business. Yes, there is a LOT of acting going on in WWE, but I mean their movies don't do well on the "big screen."

I cannot imagine The Chaperone goes through the roof with sales and great reviews, but I think it will do OK overall. From the movie critic reviews so far, it isn't a hot movie. Most critics gave it between 1 - 2.5 stars. A lot of WWE Superstars aren't in the movie business for a good reason. I am not saying that they are bad actors, but they are much better at their WWE wrestling careers than acting careers.

Contrary to the other WWE Superstars, The Rock seems to have a talent for both wrestling and acting. He was not only a crowd favorite superstar, but he left WWE a number of years ago to become an actor. In my opinion, he is a pretty good actor. Now he is appearing on Raw, and he will be the host of WrestleMania XXVII. Most WWE fans missed The Rock and are glad that he's making appearances for now, but he probably won't stay after WrestleMania. I think that The Rock is one of the few good wrestlers who are meant for the acting business, too.
