The first match we had was Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston for theIntercontinental Championship. I have to say, I wasn't really excitedabout this match to begin with. It's a match that has been on Smackdown!a few times, so why should I get excited for it? The match was going onand it was fine, nothing special, it was pretty much the same as the previoustimes we've seen this match. The match ended when The Nexus interferredand beat up Dolph and Kofi, which was just stupid. I don't even get whyWWE Creative would book that to happen. You've spent the last 3 monthshaving them beat up the biggest names in WWE, what is beating up Dolph Zigglergoing to to do? It's not like it will get The Nexus over any more thanthey are. But thats how this match ended, in a no contest, so Dolphretained. I think we can expect to see Dolph vs.Kofi and Night ofChampions in September now.
Next was Melina vs. Alicia Fox. Nothig too special, Melinareturned and won the Divas Championship.
The next match was Big Show vs. the SES, which Big Show won. Way, way, way too predictable. Now you my be saying, but wait, Joe, yousaid you thought the SES would win. I thought WWE would put SES over BigShow because how predictable it would be to have Big Show defeat the SES. Never-the-less Big Show won after CM Punk left Mercury and Gallows in the ringto fight Big Show, so the logical next step for this feud is to have Big Showvs. CM Punk in a singles match.
Next we had Sheamus vs. Randy Orton. The match wasalright. I wasnt thrilled, I think it could have been better, and theending was horrible. I mean how can you end your WWE Championship matchat the second biggest PPV of the year in a DQ? Just stupid. Someoneshould have gone over clean. I understand they want to keep the Sheamusvs. Orton feud going, but they could have still had a clean match finish.
Next we had Kane vs. Rey Mysterio. the match, again, not great, just alright. I wouldn't complain if it was the main event of Smackdown!,but I think for a PPV, expecially SummerSlam they should do better. Thereal story here is the return of The Undertaker, which I also think was playedout badly. I understand that they wanted to make him look weak becausethey want to sell the fact that he just got out of a coma, but I think that itwould have been better if they just brought him back not looking so weak. So, even the The Undertaker's return I think wasn't too great.
The last match we had was Team WWE vs. The Nexus. Now, I amthrilled they brought back Daneil Bryan, that definetely helped make SummerSlamnot a complete failure. The match was a very good match. I reallydid like it. This was the one match I was prepared for a cheap finish, and agreed with having someone turn and screw over Team WWE. I'm a bitdisappointed no one was revealed as the guy behind Nexus and after Cena madeBarrett tap out, I feel like "Ok, well, thats over". It's justlike the feud between Cena and the Nexus is over now, which is alright, but Ihope WWE doesn't try to continure it because it would be dragging it on pastit's time. Cena made Barrett tap out, what more is there? Nothing.
Overall, I was not happy with the show. As a matter of fact itwas one of the worst PPVs I can recall in recent history. Just not goodat all, I broke it down match by match and I don't think I liked one aspect ofthe show besides Daniel Bryan returning. Given I LOVED that part, but therest of the show was not very good.
