SummerSlam 2010

Posted by Joe on August 14, 2010 at 11:58 PM

I'm back with my pay-per-view blogs, this one of course for SummerSlam 2010 which is taking place on August 15, 2010.

The first match we have is Team Raw vs. The Nexus.  I am going to say Nexus wins this after John Cena turns on Team Raw.  I do think Cena will be the one to be revealed as the leader of Nexus, maybe it will be Jericho, but my pick is Cena.  As for the mystery member of Team Raw, I am going to say it will be either The Miz or Evan Bourne.  In short, The Miz of Evan Bourne are announced as the mystery member of Team Raw, and John Cena (or maybe Jericho) turn on Team Raw and allow Nexus to win.

Next we have Alicia Fox vs. Melina for the Divas Championship.  Not a ton to say here, Melina's first match back, I'm looking forward to this a little bit, but it shouldn't go on for more than 7-8 minutes.  As for the who wins, my pick is Melina here.

Next is Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston for the Intercontinental Championship.  Again, there isn't a ton for me to say.  I think it can be an OK match, it won't steal the show, but it shouldn't be a bad match at all.  My pick for this one is Ziggler retaining his Intercontinental Championship.

Next we have Sheamus vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship.  This  match I have high hopes for.  I was really looking forward to this at the Royal Rumble, but it ended in a DQ, so I am looking forward to this, I really do think this match can be great.  As for who wins, I will go with Sheamus retaining his WWE Championship.

Next we have Big Show vs. the Straight Edge Society.  I would have rather seen just Big Show vs. CM Punk, but I doubt this will be the last match in this feud, so I do think we will still see Big Show vs. CM Punk in the future.  As for the match that is happening, Big Show vs. SES, I am going to say the SES wins.  The match itself I think can be alright, I really don't see a ton of potential in this match, but there is a small part of me looking forward to it a bit.  But, my pick here is the SES going over Big Show.

The last match we have is Kane vs. Rey Mysterio for the World Heavyweight Championship.  The match itself I think will only be alright, not such a great match.  I have no doubt Kane will win because I am calling an Undertaker return here, and I know this is my blog, but Nick also completly agrees with that, we are both calling an Undertaker return here.  I (Nick too) picture it like this, Kane goes over Rey and the actual match ends.  Then the gong sounds, the light goes out, and Undertaker appears in the ring, and so beings the Undertaker vs. kane storyline.

Thats all for the announced card, but I want to mention the possibility of an impromtu match.  There are only 6 matches announced, so they have room on the card, and there are a good number of guys who are not on the card, who should be like Jack Swagger (way to drop the ball on him if he isn't at the PPV), The Miz, Evan Bourne, Matt Hardy, Christian, Drew McIntyre, Ted DiBiase, MVP, and a bunch of others.  Not they can't all be on the card, but there is definetely enough room for another match.

So, thats all for this one.  Overall I think the card really is not that good, maybe after the show happens we will look back and say "Ok, it wasn't bad at all" if the Undertaker return happenes, when the leader of Nexus is revealed, maybe another match, but looking at the card on paper, it just seems alright.  But thats all for this blog, and remeber to check either the home page of WrestleSlam.com or the main page of he app (the "News" page) for SummerSlam results which will be up right after the show goes off the air.
