So, my WrestleMania weekend is over now, as Raw was the last event.
First they taped Kofi Kingston and MVP vs. Zack Ryder and Carlito, which Kingston and MVP won. They also taped Yoshi Tatsu vs. William Regal, which Tatsu won.
Then they moved onto Monday Night Raw.
The show opens with Batista who draws "You Tapped Out" chants the whole time he was talking and making his entrance. John Cena came out to a huge pop, and for the first time I've even heard, no boos, just a big, big pop. Cena and Batista did their thing, and throughout the whole promo the crowd was chanting "You tapped out". Batista left to all boos, and that was when Swagger came out. Swagger comes out and really gets a pop. He hits Cena a few times, and then says he is cashing in, which gets an even bigger pop. Cena gets up and chases Swagger out.
Next was the Legends Lumberjack match. Ted DiBiase Sr. comes out to a decent pop, and Piper gets the loudest pop if the night, excluding Shawn Michaels. The guest hosts come out too all boos. Christian gets a very loud pop and Ted DiBiase Jr, is very over as a heel and draws a pretty nice amount of heat. It was a pretty good match, which the crowd seemed very into. Christian won, but the real story was Ted DiBiase Jr. getting angry at his dad and leaving the ring, which drew a nice reaction.
Then Triple H came out and started talking on the stage. HHH obviously drew a huge pop. Just as he was about to say what he had wanted to say to Shawn Michaels for years, Sheamus runs out and clubs him in the back of the head with a steel pipe. Sheamus drew a very nice amount of heat, and he is really over as a heel. Triple H isn't moving, so the medical staff come out and help his up. He limps to the back with the help of the EMTs.
Next was the 15 second Divas WrestleMania rematch. The divas actually drew a nice pop for both entances Eve rolled up Maryse as soon as the bell rung and got the win, so I can't say the crowd was into the match, because there was hardly any match. After it was over though, all the Divas got into another fight and the face divas cleared the ring of the heel divas, which drew a little pop.
Next Bret Hart came out to obviously a massive pop. He talked for a bit, until the Miz and Big Show came out a good amount of heat. The Mixz really draws so much heat when he talks, it really is amazing. The Hart Dynasty come out to a pretty big pop and they have a match with Big Show and the Miz. DH Smith does his suplex, where he keeps his oppent upside down for a bit, everytime he did that, he got a HUGE pop. Really throughtout the whole match, the Hart Dynasty were drawing nice pops. The crowd seemed very into this match.
Next was Batista and Jack Swagger vs. John Cena and Randy Orton. Batista and Swagger get a nice amount of heat, Cena gets a huge pop, but Orton gets a MASSIVE pop. He si kind of in between a face and heel, he hasn't really made it evident yet that he a full-blown face, but he is VERY, VERY over as a face. The match good, the crowd was very into it, and the crowd went crazy loud when Orton hit his RKOs.
Finally there was HBK's Farewell Address. Now, I had a hard time believing this was really it for HBK, but after that speech, it does seem like the end of the road for Shawn Michaels. Mostly because he acknowledged that he knew "retirements" in wrestling don't mean much anymore, but for him, this was really the end. Obviously this drew the biggest reaction of thr night, the "HBK" and "Thank you Shawn" chants from the crowd. Undertaker showed up and tipped his hat, which was a very nice thouch, and if this really is it for HBK, that was the right thing to do and I'm happy WWE decided to have Undertaker break his character just a little bit to acknowledge he retired one of the best wrestlers ever. Obviously it was great to be apat of that live. Big things happen at all live events, and if you look hard enough you can find something that makes every live event special, but very rarely does history really take place, but that's what happened, so it was great to be there.
After Raw went off the air, they had the dark match, Chris Jericho defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Edge. Edge won when Jericho got DQ'ed for puling the ref in front of him to block Edge's spear, so Jericho kept the title. After the match, Edge speared Jericho and Triple H came out. HHH hit Jericho with the pedigree and then gave Jericho a Sweet Chin Music, whihc hit Jericho at about the chest level. HHH got on the mic and said "Ladies and Gentlemen, Chris Jericho has left consciousness", parodying how HBK ended his farewell address, "HBK has left the building".
