WrestleMania Weekend Live Blog 6 (WrestleMania XXVI)

I don't know who watched WrestleMania and who didn't, but if you didn't, you really should order the replay or get the DVD when it comes out, because I really do think it was a great show, the only bad thing about it was that the matches were all pretty short.

First was the dark match, which a giant Battle Royal with practically everyone not on the WrestleMania card.  It was really just a lot of punching and stuff.  The whole crowd was really behind Santino the whole match until he was eliminated.  Yoshi Tatsu won in probably 10 minutes.

Then the actual show began and the first match was the Unified Tag Team Championship match, which was only like 4 minutes long.  The crowd was behind R-Truth and John Morrison, but the Miz got a tons of heat. The match was OK, but, really, nothing too great can happen in 4 minutes.

Next up was Cody Rhodes vs. Ted DiBiase vs. Randy Orton.  Orton got one of the biggest pops of the night.  The match was very good, but still less than 10 mintues long.  It's really amazing how over as a face Orton is, everything he did drew a massive pop from the crowd.

Then was Money in the Bank, which for some twisted reason Jack Swagger won.  Christian got the biggest pop of this match, the crowd went nuts when Evan Bourne did his Shooting Star Press, but Swagger was just kind of there for the whole match until he won it.  He drew an alright amount of heat when he won, but that wore off rather quickly.  Where they go with this should be interesting, but for the first time I am hoping the MITB winner has to defend the briefcase and loses it to someone else.  The match was a great match though, I think better than last year's Money in the Bank.

Next there was Triple H vs. Sheamus, which Triple H won.  The match OK, not the best match of the night, but I'm not going to complain about it.  I think it was a bad move having Triple H go over Sheamus, but I'll talk about that a different time.  Sheamus did draw a ton of heat, and Triple H obviously got a huge pop.

The next match was CM Punk vs Rey Mysterio.  CM Punk came out to a huge reaction, but mixed cheers and boos.  He started to talk about drugs and stuff and then everyone started to boo him.  Rey came out to to a nice pop, but less than what I expected him to get.  During the match though, Rey got huge pops for every move he did.  Rey won the match with a 619 in only 10 minutes.  So it was a very good match, but only 10 minutes long.

Next was Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon.  This really impressed me.  You had the whole Hart family screw Vince, which was great to see.  Bret Hart got a huge pop, the biggest one of the night, not including any part of the Undertaker vs. HBK match, including HBK and Taker's entrances.  Bret must have hit Vince with that chair 20 times, and each time the drowd got louder and louder when they scream "AGAIN".  In the end, Vince tapped out to the sharpshooter, which was the right way to end the match.  When Bret put Vince in the Sharpshooter, the crowd really was just insanely loud.  It really was a great match, not for the wrestling, but just because we have all been waiting to see this for 12 years, and it finally happened.

Next was Chris Jericho vs. Edge, which was really a great match.  Under 15 minutes, but still a great match.  Chris Jericho got a very loud mixed reaction and Edge just got a huge pop.  Jericho won and the crowd did cheer him, but they cheered louder when Edge speared Jericho off the announce table, which was really a great moment.

Next was the 10 Diva Tag Match, which lasted a whopping 3 minutes long.  Vickie actually got a loud pop when she went to the top rope and pinned Kelly Kelly.  She somehow botched the pin, but nothign too big.

The we had John Cena vs. Batista for the WWE Championship.  Batista got mixed reaction, but mostly heat and John Cena got all heat.  A few scattered little kids cheering him, but Cena got pretty much all heat.  The match, although it lasted less than 15 minutes, was great, I really do think it was the best match, besides Undertaker vs. HBK.  Cena won, which drew a loud reaction, but this time more cheers than boos, less mixed than his entrance.

The was HBK vs. Undertaker.  I didn't think their match would be better than last year's.  I think they did outpreform themselves, I really do.  It started slow, and just kept building up and up and up.  Undertaker's tombstone on the outside, HBK's moonsault, it really was just a great match.  A few Sweet Chin Music that were kicked out of, a few tombstone that were kicked out of, it really was just a great match. And I can't even describe the pop they drew for everything they did, including the entrances and of course every move.  I'll be the first to say I was wrong and, in my mind, they topped WrestleMania 25.  Undertaker won, which was got a huge pop, but when he left the ring after shaking HBK's hand, the crowd, of course, went nuts for HBK with the "Thank you" chants.

Overall I think it was a great show and give it 8.9 out fo 10 stars.  Biggest pop was Undertaker and HBK, I can't even say one drew more than the other.  For the whole match, and for every spot, the crowd went nuts.
