WrestleMania Weekend Live Blog 4 (Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony)

It was a very nice event.  The only part that could have been better was the dress code.  They had been advertising the dress code, but they didn't turn anyone down at the door, which I though they would be doing.  Before the event started, they had a special entrance for the current superstars, who all came in and took their seats up front.  Jerry Lawler began the night as the host and they just plugged right along with the inductees.  First was Mad Dog Vachon who was inducted by Pat Patterson.  He came out in his wheelchair and gave a shaky speech, with some aid from Patterson to help move things along.  Obviously he wasn't in the best condition and 4 decades of wrestling definatly took it's toll on him.  Next was Wndi Richter who was inducted by Roddy Piper.  Piper's didn't really talk about Wendi too much, which was suprising and he was her inductor.  Wendi came out and did her thing, gave her story and left, pretty quick.  I don't really remember the order of inductees, so the next ones aren't in any order.  Antonio Inoki was inducted by Stan Hansen who I think gave the best speech by an inductor all night.  Inoki didn't speak english, so he said a few english words, then just gave his speech in Japanese, with a translator.  Bob Uecker was insanely funny with his speech.  Bret Hart came out with the whole Hart family and gave a speech on Stu Hart.  On behalf of Gorgeous George, his 97 year old first wife Betty Wagner accepted the award.  For a 97 year old lady, she scoots around on her walker pretty good. The last inductee was Ted DiBiase Sr.  He was inducted by Ted and Brett DiBiase, his sons.  Ted told the story of his career, how he got where he was and thanked a bunch of people, and then at the end of his speech, they started to throw buckets of 5 dollar bills down from the rafters, so I made 10 bucks.

Overall it was a very nice event, I really didn't see anything go wrong at all.  WWE treats this like the Oscars, not a Monday Night Raw, so it was a nice feel to the show.

Check back tomorrow for my AXXESS live report and the live report from WrestleMania XXVI.
