Let me start by saying I was disappointed, period. Every single match was just slow. Undertaker vs. Rey was slow, Orton vs. Sheamus was slow, I was even very disapointed with the Rumble match, I did, too, think that was slow. Anyways, let do the match breakdown
Christian def. Ezekiel Jackson to retain the ECW Title. Honestly, this was the fastest-paced match on the card. Nothing to write home about, an average match.
Next was the impromptu US Title match, where the Miz retained against MVP. Another OK match, nothing too special.
Then we had Sheamus retain his WWE Title against Randy Orton after he won by DQ. The match was just not that good. I'd be lying if I said it was a bad match, but nothing too good. I absolutly hate how Sheamus won, a horrible finsish when you trying to push someone. You want to build up Sheamus, make him look strong, unstoppable, yet they end the match with him down on the floor. WWE should have put Sheamus over clean, it would help establish him, which theya re still in the process of. I understand they wanted to use this to start a Legacy breakup, but you don't start the Legacy breakup at the expense of someone you are trying to push. So, a less then average match, and, if you ask me, a horrible ended, for when you are trying to push someone.
Next Mickie James won the Women's title from Michelle McCool. I mean, the match was about 3 seconds long, and the whole Piggy James thing is just stupid, so overall just a not-so-great segment.
Then we had the last match before the Rumble, Undertaker def. Rey Mysterio to retain the World Title. Just a choppy match. You saw one good spot, then 2 minutes of nothing, then another spot, then two more nothing minutes.
Then we had the Royal Rumble match. I think I can say without a shadow of a doubt this was the slowest Rumble in recent history. It was just slow. Sure, it had a good spot here and there, but it just was not that good. Edge returing was great, but it's not like that made the whole match good.
As for the outcome, I am not supirsed Edge returned, but I am VERY suprised he won. I have no doubt Edge goes into a storyline with Chris Jericho, but he get a title show at WM, so I'm not sure how this will work out.
Yes, HBK did loose, but I would say still expect to see Undertaker vs. HBK at WM 26. It will be interesting to see how they put Edge in the title storylines because I am at a loss trying to predict that. I guess they can have Undertaker drop the title, or have Sheamus drop the title. There is obviously so much they can do, but I don't want ot get into endless speculating.
Overall, not such a great PPV, I really did expect better.
